   Alain Rebord
With immediacy and unspeakable joy, the painter Alain Rebord takes the viewer around the world. He plunges his gaze not only into the grandiose spaces of the planet, into the distant horizons of Argentina, the spaces of North Africa, the Far East, such as Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, the warm waters, the transparency of the Indian Ocean or the icy ones of the Irish Sea, but also in the nearby waves, Lake Geneva, which bathe with happiness his daily life of Préverenges, then of St Prex.

And as if to make better take the measure of these distant lands, his works bears traces of it, with earth, sand, dust, as a witness of authenticity, preciously brought back, and preserved in his workshop. These traces from elsewhere are carefully integrated into the works. They embody these exceptional lands in a tangible way, and allows the artist to caress them with a gesture imbued with tenderness and nostalgia, which is none other than the translation of the vivid emotions experienced. But it is also the soul of ancient civilizations that the artist brings to our eyes, Pompeii, Petra and other Lost Cities, to resurrect and cultivate treasures buried deep in our memories.

It is a luminous work, subtle, on a wooden support, enriched with various materials, such as pigments, inks, acrylic colors, sometimes guidelines and architects, which Alain Rebord delivers to our perception. Also a seasoned draftsman, it is a work all in finesse and nuances, whose fingering can be found in his "Translucents" on stones coming to life under the effect of light and rooted in white or veined marble bases. Another feat full of poetry and presence. A must see!

Alain Rebord, after having set up his workshop in Burgundy, then in Préverenges for 20 years, has been working for five years in the Vieux Bourg in St Prex. He drew and painted from an early age. After graduating from head in Geneva, then from HEP in Lausanne, he taught drawing and visual arts at the College and Gymnasium of Morges. Since 1970, he has exhibited regularly in Switzerland and abroad, in groups or individually. His works belong to many private and public collections, including Philip Morris, UBS, Romande Energie, Nestlé, Roche.
